4.

Information We Collect

We collect information in three main ways:

  1. Information you provide directly

  2. Information we collect automatically when you use the Service

  3. Information we receive from third parties

4.1

Information You Provide Directly

When you use Steady, you may give us:

Account & Registration Information

  • Phone number and/or email address

  • Display name

  • Date of birth

  • Gender and sexual orientation

  • Authentication credentials

Profile Information

  • Photos you upload

  • Bio, prompts, preferences, interests, lifestyle information

  • Location information you choose to include in your profile (e.g., city, neighborhood)

  • Dating preferences (for example, age range, distance, relationship intentions)

  • Availability windows or schedules you choose to share for planning dates

Some profile fields may reveal sensitive information (for example, information about sexual orientation, religion, or health-related preferences). You choose whether to provide this data, and where required by law we rely on your consent to process it.

Content & Communications

  • Messages and other communications you send within the app

  • Reactions, likes, passes, and other interactions with matches and profiles

  • Feedback you provide (e.g., surveys, ratings, reports about other users, or support requests)

Message Processing (PII Filtering and Platform Integrity). To help Steady work as intended and to enforce our rules, we may automatically analyze messages you send in the app to detect and prevent the sharing or solicitation of personally identifying information (for example, phone numbers, email addresses, social media handles, mailing addresses, payment details, or links intended to move conversations off-platform). If our systems detect prohibited content, we may block, delay, redact, or flag the message, and we may use the results to enforce our Terms and community guidelines. This processing may be performed using automated tools, including third-party AI service providers acting on our behalf.

Payment & Transaction Information

If you pay fees or otherwise transact through Steady:

  • Type of transaction and amount

  • Currency, timestamp, and status of the transaction

  • Limited payment-related details (for example, the last 4 digits and card brand)

  • We do not store your full card number; that is handled by our payment processors who process transactions on our behalf.

Identity & Safety Information

If we introduce or you opt into verification features (now or in the future), we may collect:

  • Selfie photos or short videos for verification

  • Identity documents or information about them (e.g., ID type, last 4 of ID number, issuing country)

  • Information you provide when reporting a safety concern or responding to a request from our trust & safety team

We will clearly explain such features in-app before you use them and will process this information consistent with this Policy and applicable law.

4.2

Information We Collect Automatically

When you use Steady, we automatically collect certain data, including:

Usage Data

  • When you create your account and when you log in/out

  • The features you use (e.g., browsing profiles, sending likes, confirming dates, canceling/rescheduling)

  • In-app actions (e.g., likes/passes, check-ins, message sends, confirmations)

  • Interactions with notifications and in-app prompts

Device & Technical Data

  • IP address and approximate location derived from it

  • Device type, operating system, app version, language, time zone

  • Device identifiers (such as advertising IDs where allowed)

  • Crash logs, performance data, and diagnostic information

This information helps us keep the Service running, secure, and improving.

4.3

Location Information

Steady uses location to suggest relevant matches and date options near you.

We may collect:

  • Approximate location, from your IP address or coarse device signals

  • Precise location, if you grant the app permission to access your device’s GPS or similar location features

You can control location permissions at any time in your device settings.

4.4

Information From Cookies and Similar Technologies

If you use our websites or web-based interfaces, we and our analytics providers may use cookies, SDKs, and similar technologies to:

  • Recognize you when you return

  • Understand how our site is used

  • Improve performance and security

  • Measure the effectiveness of communications

You can usually configure your browser to refuse cookies or alert you when cookies are being set. Note that some site features may not work properly without cookies.

4.5

Information From Third Parties

We may receive information about you from third parties, such as:

  • Authentication partners (e.g., Apple, Google) if you choose to sign in that way

  • Payment processors to confirm transactions and prevent fraud

  • SMS and communications providers (e.g., Twilio) to confirm delivery status of verification codes and alerts

  • Analytics and crash-reporting providers to help us understand performance and usage

  • Moderation and AI service providers (e.g., content moderation vendors) who process data on our behalf to detect harmful or policy-violating content

  • Law enforcement or other third parties where legally permitted and necessary for safety, fraud prevention, or legal compliance

We process this information in accordance with this Policy and applicable law.

5.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

5.1

To Provide and Operate the Service

  • Create and manage your account and profile

  • Show you potential matches and show your profile to other users

  • Schedule, track, and manage commitments to dates and time slots

  • Enable in-app messaging and other communication features

  • Process fees, refunds, and other transactions

  • Provide customer support and respond to your requests

5.2

To Personalize Your Experience

  • Suggest matches based on your profile, preferences, behavior, and location

  • Adjust the order or frequency of profiles you see

  • Surface relevant tips, prompts, and in-app education

  • Customize which notifications you receive

5.3

To Improve and Develop the Service

  • Analyze aggregate and pseudonymized usage to understand how people use Steady

  • Test features, conduct experiments, and perform product research

  • Generate insights that help us improve matching quality, reduce no-shows, and improve reliability

We may use machine learning and other automated techniques to help us with these tasks.

Inferences and personality insights. We may use information about your activity and communications in the Service to generate inferred attributes (for example, communication style and compatibility signals). We use these inferences to improve matching quality, personalize your experience, reduce no-shows, and improve reliability.

5.4

To Promote Safety, Integrity, and Compliance

  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, spam, abuse, harassment, or other harmful behavior

  • Enforce our Terms of Use and community guidelines

  • Verify accounts and, where applicable, identities or locations

  • Honor legal obligations, comply with lawful requests, and protect our rights or the rights of others

We may use automated tools and AI-based systems (including third-party providers) to help detect patterns associated with harmful or policy-violating content, and our human teams may review flagged content where needed.

Preventing circumvention of Steady’s rules. We use automated detection (and, where needed, human review) to identify attempts to share contact details or otherwise coordinate dates off-platform during periods where that would undermine Steady’s reliability rules, including our cancellation and no-show policies.

5.5

To Communicate with You

  • Send transactional messages (e.g., verification codes, date reminders, account alerts)

  • Send service-related announcements (e.g., changes to features, policies, or terms)

  • With your consent or as permitted by law, send you marketing communications about Steady and our offerings

  • Allow you to opt out of non-essential communications at any time

5.6

To Comply with Legal Obligations

  • Maintain records required under applicable laws and financial regulations

  • Respond to lawful requests from courts, regulators, or law enforcement

  • Protect our legal rights, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements

6.

Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK Users)

If you are in the EEA, UK, or a similar jurisdiction, we process your personal data under one or more of the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract: To provide the Service and perform our agreement with you (e.g., creating your account, matching you, processing fees).

  • Legitimate interests: To operate, secure, and improve Steady; prevent fraud; and personalize your experience, where our interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.

  • Consent: For certain types of data (such as precise location, some sensitive profile data, and certain marketing communications), we rely on your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time through settings or by contacting us.

  • Compliance with legal obligations: To comply with applicable law, regulatory requirements, and lawful requests.

7.

To help you connect with others, certain information is visible to other Steady users, such as:

  • Your profile (photos, bio, location region, preferences)

  • Your first name

  • Certain activity indicators (e.g., liked you, matched with you, confirmed a date)

Your exact contact details (like phone number and email) are not shown to other users unless you choose to share them directly.

7.2

With Service Providers & Partners

We use third-party service providers who act on our behalf, including:

  • Cloud hosting and database providers (e.g., infrastructure platforms, Supabase/Postgres)

  • Image and file storage providers (e.g., cloud storage/CDN providers such as Cloudflare R2)

  • Payment processors to payment methods, fees, and refunds

  • SMS and communication providers (e.g., Twilio) to send OTP codes, alerts, and reminders

  • Analytics, crash-reporting, and performance monitoring providers

  • AI, trust & safety, and content moderation providers to (i) detect prohibited content (including attempts to share contact information) and (ii) generate in-app suggestions and matching insights

  • Customer support tools that help us track and respond to issues

These providers are only allowed to process your data according to our instructions and for the purposes described in this Policy.

7.3

For Safety, Legal, & Compliance Reasons

We may share information if we believe in good faith that it is reasonably necessary to:

  • Protect the rights, safety, or property of Steady, our users, or others

  • Detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues

7.5

Aggregated & De-Identified Information

We may share aggregated or de-identified information (which does not reasonably identify you) for purposes such as research, analytics, or improving our services.

We do not sell your personal information in the sense commonly understood under U.S. state privacy laws, and we do not share personal information with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes outside Steady.

8.

International Data Transfers

Steady is based in the United States, and we may process and store data on servers located in other countries.

If you are located outside the United States, this means your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries that may have data-protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction. • We may retain certain data (for example, transaction records or data needed for safety and fraud prevention) for longer periods as required or permitted by law.

10.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. Subject to applicable law, these can include:

  • Access – Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

  • Correction – Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.

  • Withdraw consent – Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

You can exercise many of these rights directly through in-app settings (for example, updating profile information or deleting your account). You may also contact us at privacy@steady.date to exercise your rights. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

Residents of some U.S. states and other jurisdictions may have additional rights under local law. Where applicable, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
