Terms of Use

Effective date: January 19, 2026


These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Steady Dating, LLC (“Steady,” “we,” “us,” “our”). They govern your access to and use of the Steady mobile application, our websites, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).


By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.


Certain product rules (including date scheduling logic, check-in requirements, and fee ranges) may change over time; the version displayed in the Service at the time of the relevant action will apply.


PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT NOTICE CAREFULLY:


SECTION 16 (ARBITRATION AND CLASS ACTION WAIVER) AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS. IT REQUIRES (WITH LIMITED EXCEPTIONS) THAT DISPUTES BETWEEN YOU AND STEADY BE RESOLVED BY BINDING ARBITRATION, AND IT LIMITS YOU TO BRINGING CLAIMS INDIVIDUALLY (NOT AS PART OF A CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION). (This mirrors how major dating apps surface arbitration up front.)

1.

Definitions

“Account”: your Steady account and associated profile, preferences, matches, messages, and date activity.

  • “Content”: text, photos, videos, messages, and other materials you or others provide through the Service.

  • “Date”: an offline meeting between two users scheduled through the Service.

  • “Match”: mutual interest between users as determined by the Service.

  • “Payment Method”: a valid debit/credit card or other payment method you add to your Steady account and authorize Steady (via our payment processor) to store and charge in accordance with these Terms.

  • “Date Outcome”: the status of a scheduled Date as determined by the Service (e.g., both checked in, one checked in, neither checked in, canceled).

  • “Check-In Window”: the 30-minute window that begins 15 minutes before your scheduled Date time and ends 15 minutes after your scheduled Date time, during which you must check in through the Service.

  • “Fees”: the amounts we may charge in connection with a Date, including (as applicable) a confirmed-date fee, cancellation fee, or no-show fee, as displayed in the Service.

2.

Eligibility and account rules

You must be 18 or older to use the Service.


By using the Service, you represent that:

  • you can form a binding contract where you live;

  • you will comply with these Terms and applicable law; and

  • you will provide accurate, current information.


One person, one account. You may not create multiple accounts or share your account.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose risk to other users or the Service.

3.

Safety; no background checks

You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users, online and offline.


Steady does not conduct criminal background checks on users by default and makes no warranties about any user’s identity, intent, or conduct.


We may take steps to help maintain a safe platform (e.g., moderation, anti-fraud measures, enforcing rules), but we cannot guarantee safety.

4.

Community standards and prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

  • harass, threaten, stalk, bully, or intimidate others;

  • post hate speech or discriminatory content;

  • post non-consensual sexual content or exploitative content;

  • impersonate others or misrepresent key facts (including age);

  • share or solicit contact information (phone number, email, social handles), payment details, home/work address, or other personally identifying information, or attempt to circumvent Steady’s in-app scheduling and reliability rules;

  • solicit money, run scams, or use the Service for commercial solicitation/spam;

  • engage in illegal activity.


We may remove content, restrict features, suspend, or terminate accounts for violations.

5.

Your Content and permissions you grant Steady

You are responsible for the Content you post or send.

5.1

License

You grant Steady a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, adapt, display, and distribute your Content solely to operate, provide, secure, and improve the Service (including trust & safety and moderation).

5.2

Limits

You will not upload Content that:

  • infringes IP/privacy rights,

  • is unlawful or deceptive,

  • contains malware, or

  • violates these Terms.

5.3

Visibility

Some Content is visible to other users (e.g., profile information, messages to matches). Do not share anything you are not comfortable sharing within the Service.

5.4

Message filtering; automated review

To help keep users safe and to protect the integrity of the Service (including enforcing rules that prevent users from sharing contact details to move off-platform in ways that undermine Steady’s date scheduling, cancellation, and no-show policies), Steady may automatically analyze, filter, block, delay, or redact messages and other Content sent through the Service. This may include using automated tools and third-party service providers acting on our behalf. You understand that (a) Steady does not guarantee that all prohibited content will be detected, and (b) enforcement actions may include warnings, feature restrictions, message removal, or account suspension/termination.

6.

Acceptable use; platform integrity

You agree not to:

  • scrape, crawl, or data-mine the Service;

  • use bots or automation without our written permission;

  • reverse engineer or attempt to access source code;

  • bypass security or access controls;

  • create derivative products that compete with Steady using Service data.


No AI training using the Service. You may not use Content from the Service (including other users’ content) to train or improve machine learning/AI models without our written permission (a restriction commonly included in modern app terms).

7.

Matching and automatic scheduling; reliability rules

If you and another user Match, Steady may automatically schedule a Date for you based on availability and product rules.


Steady may enforce operational and reliability rules designed to reduce cancellations and no-shows, including:

  • limiting users to one scheduled Date per day;

  • requiring confirmations or in-app actions within specified time windows; and

  • restricting features for repeated cancellations, no-shows, charge failures, or other misuse.


You are responsible for reviewing your scheduled Date details in the app and for following the check-in requirements in Section 8.

8.

Payment Methods; date fees; cancellations; check-in; no-shows

Steady currently does not offer recurring subscriptions unless explicitly shown in-app.

8.1

Payment Method required

To use certain features (including sending “likes”), you must add and maintain at least one valid Payment Method on your account.


You authorize Steady and our payment processor to store your Payment Method and to charge it in accordance with these Terms and the fee amounts shown in the Service at the time the relevant action occurs (e.g., canceling or confirming a Date).

8.2

No authorization hold; Payment Method lock until Date Outcome

Steady does not place a payment authorization hold solely because you Match or have a Date scheduled.


However, once a Date is scheduled and until the Date Outcome is set, the Service may restrict your ability to remove your Payment Method. This is to support enforcement of our cancellation and no-show rules.

8.3

When you are charged (overview)

Your Payment Method is charged only in the circumstances below:


A) Confirmed Date (both check in):
If you check in during the Check-In Window and your Match also checks in, you will be charged $6.


B) You do not check in (treated as no-show):
If you do not check in during the Check-In Window, we will treat you as a no-show, and you will be charged $18 (unless the Service determines a different outcome under these Terms or as required by law).


C) Your Match does not check in:
If you check in during the Check-In Window but your Match does not check in, you will not be charged.


D) Cancellations (you cancel):
If you cancel a scheduled Date, you may be charged as follows (see also Section 8.5):

  • If you cancel more than 12 hours after Matching, you will be charged a cancellation fee.

  • If you cancel more than 12 hours after Matching and not less than 12 hours before the Date, the cancellation fee will be between $2 and $6 (as shown in-app at the time of cancellation).

  • If you cancel less than 12 hours before the Date, the cancellation fee will be between $6 and $18 (as shown in-app at the time of cancellation).


E) Your Match cancels:
If your Match cancels the Date, you will not be charged.

8.4

Check-in requirement and Check-In Window

Unless the Date has been canceled, you are responsible for checking in for your Date in the Service during the Check-In Window, which starts 15 minutes before your scheduled Date time and ends 15 minutes after your scheduled Date time.


If you do not check in during the Check-In Window, we may treat you as a no-show and charge the applicable no-show fee (currently described in Section 8.3(B)).

8.5

Cancellation and fee schedule; “in-app rules control”

The time windows and fee ranges described above are examples of Steady’s current approach and may change as the Service evolves.


The fee amounts, timing thresholds, grace periods, and logic displayed in the Service at the time of the relevant event (e.g., cancellation, no-show determination, or confirmed check-in) control and are incorporated into these Terms by reference.

8.6

Failed payments; disputes; chargebacks

If a charge fails (for example, because your Payment Method is expired or blocked), we may:

  • attempt to reprocess the charge;

  • restrict your ability to use the Service (including liking/matching); and/or

  • suspend or terminate your account.


If you initiate a chargeback or payment reversal, we may suspend or terminate your account while we investigate and to protect the integrity of the Service.

9.

Third-party venues and reservations

If Steady facilitates a reservation or suggests venues, venues are third parties and may have their own policies and charges. Steady is not responsible for third-party services, availability, or acts/omissions.

10.

App Store / Google Play terms

If you download the app through Apple or Google, their platform terms also apply. For purchases made through Apple or Google, they may be the merchant of record and refund handling may be controlled by them.


Apple is a third-party beneficiary. If you access the app on iOS, Apple (and Apple’s subsidiaries) are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and can enforce them against you.

11.

Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (in-app where available).


We may suspend or terminate your access at any time if we believe you violated these Terms, harmed other users, or created risk for Steady.


Upon termination:

  • your right to use the Service ends;

  • you remain responsible for any owed Fees; and

  • certain terms survive (including arbitration, liability limits, and IP).

12.

Intellectual property; DMCA

Steady and its licensors own the Service and all related IP.

12.1

Limited license to you

We grant you a limited, personal, revocable, non-transferable license to use the Service as intended.

12.2

DMCA notice

If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a DMCA notice to copyright@steady.date.


(Include: your signature, identification of the copyrighted work, identification/location of the infringing material, contact info, good-faith statement, and accuracy statement under penalty of perjury.)

13.

Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.


WE DO NOT GUARANTEE MATCHES, DATES, OR OUTCOMES, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.

14.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, STEADY WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES.


STEADY’S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO STEADY IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM OR (B) $100.

15.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Steady and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from claims arising out of:

  • your use of the Service,

  • your Content,

  • your interactions with other users, or

  • your violation of these Terms or law.

16.

Arbitration; class action waiver; jury trial waiver

This section is governed by the Federal Arbitration Act.

16.1

Informal dispute resolution first

Before starting arbitration or court (where permitted), you agree to send a notice of dispute to legal@steady.date describing the issue and the relief you seek. You and Steady will attempt to resolve the dispute informally for 60 days.

16.2

Arbitration agreement

Except for:

  • small claims court matters (if eligible), and

  • requests for injunctive relief related to IP,

you and Steady agree to resolve disputes by binding arbitration.

Location: Delaware or remote/video, unless law requires otherwise

16.3

Class action waiver

You and Steady agree to bring disputes only in your individual capacity, and not as a class plaintiff or class member in any class or representative proceeding.

16.4

Jury trial waiver

To the extent permitted by law, you waive the right to a jury trial.

16.5

Opt-out

You may opt out of arbitration by emailing legal@steady.date within 30 days of first accepting these Terms with the subject line “Arbitration Opt-Out” and your account identifier.

17.

California and other state-specific notices (limited; if applicable)

If Steady offers paid dating-service contracts or other plans in the future, certain states may provide additional cancellation rights. For example, California law provides certain dating-service cancellation rights within three business days for covered dating service contracts.


Steady will honor applicable state-law rights where required.

18.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, excluding conflict-of-laws rules, except where overridden by the FAA for arbitration.

19.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. If changes are material, we will provide notice and update the effective date. Continued use after the effective date of updated Terms means you accept them.
